Since the beginning of modern human civilization, there have been generations lost to many cause. Like the ones during World Wars or the ones who suffered The Great Depression. But in today’s world, there is a newly lost group due to the presence of easy technology.

Here we are talking about the youth. Born in the era of technological explosion and not knowing the world without a phone, have these adolescence been missing the real meaning of life? People from older generations have to struggle to find even a tiniest detail about something. That would make it more valuable and could stay long lastingly in their minds. Or even for leisure tasks, used to hang out more with friends and do fun activities together.

But today with readily available gadgets and resources, the art of struggling to achieve something is lost. People are learning things more than ever but when it comes to actually attempting it, it goes out of their scope, they have very little knowledge about how to tackle such situation.

As for their time passing hobbies, the social media have created such an impact on them that they have hundreds of digital friends but almost no real friend, where a person’s happiness or popularity is measured through the number of likes on their posts or their followers. Or watching video of someone else’s voyage diary or playing video games instead of exploring their own neighbourhood or enjoying a game of basketball. A lot of them have no clue about the joy of hanging out with friends till late evenings whether playing outside, having deep conversation, star gazing or just wandering around.

These effects are not limited to teenagers only but are seen in millennials also. A research suggests that their have been an increase in number of people who are giving up on their social media due to the pressure created on them, having sleeping problems, emotional problems and what not! Having known things already and not knowing how to utilize it sometimes causes isolation, depression or anxiety.

We can always see people who work in technological environment to take some break from it time to time. Sometimes they can even completely shut their online presence and go into tech-detox mode. Technology has made our society make it to the point of ignorance to the fact that there might be a day when our technology does not work and they cannot, at the moment, live without it. It haven’t let us know even the minimal task of survival or even having basic map-reading skills to look at a road map and get to our destination.

Is it the only lost generation or every upcoming one is lost already? Can we even live through a day if every equipment is shut down? Or is life with technology a never ending process and will continued to be more dependent on it by every coming generation?

All these concerns show that taking the time to slow down and learn some basic skills that can help us work more efficiently in our fast paced society is not a bad idea. It cannot be denied that the tech world have opened more options than ever before but at some point it has also taken away people’s innovation and creativity. In the present time and in future, we should really learn to manage and grow in an environment like this to ensure out physical and mental growth along with embracing the ever growing machinery.
